The house we live in now was leveled that day. When I see this video it sends chills down my spine, I have been in a tornado and know what it feels like and the destruction and terror it produces. God Bless all those that were lost and those that lost homes and businesses that day.

My family takes a semi yearly road trip to a town near 500 miles from Wichita Falls. We always drive through Wichita Falls but when we drive through there, I hardly notice that that town had gone through so much terror. I'm glad that everything is better now. God bless all who has suffered a disaster like this

April 10th is my wife's birthday. She had gone to a beauty salon out in the southwest part of Wichita Falls to get her hair done for the evening's birthday dinner. She left the beauty salon shortly after 5:00 pm. Less than an hour later the beauty salon was gone - nothing remained. God had His hand on her that afternoon. It was not her time. We'll never forget April 10, 1979.

On that day,I was sitting my younger siblings.I was 11years old. My parents had gone shopping for the home they had JUST bought. On Lavell,by Kiwanis Park. I remember hearing about Vernon and getting a very bad feeling.Brother and sister went in the hall closet with the dog, blankets, water.Posted myself in front of the TV& window hoping to see our car.My parents barely beat the tornado. We rode it out with other kids at Dads shop. I will NEVER FORGET THAT DAY nor the days immediately following.

My parents and older sister and numerous family members lived through this...my mom said they stood outside and watched it demolished everything in its path with my sister in her arms and just started crying and when it past through both my parents went to see if anyone needed help.....she gets choked up talking about it still

I couldn't imagine being there and living through this. It was over 30 years ago and those of you who were there seem to have a very clear memory of it. I'm sorry for those of you who lost loved ones that day.

I remember this day now since I learned about the storm. I wasn't yet four so I don't remember hearing about it until I watched a documentary in the 90s. Nice tribute to never forget the loss of lives that day.

Thank you so very much for this video. Now my children can see what I lived through that day. Took a long time to get over it. |
