10 yrs after their helicon days,and this was a very long day,BUTPhil Collins IS lost,and really had no connection to this band.And it shows.As bad as Phil is here,he really screws up Clapton in Philly,later.This was a great day however,certainly nothing like it since,whereas NOWmusicians can't play their instrumentsand the public buys lip-syncs,and there is no beat.Now that is a sad ugly truth.

Page maybe be one of the technically gifted players but his playing is overdriven. One story emphasizes that: Page guest recording with the Stones in 1983. He developed complex chord progressions for the song Dirty Work. It didn't fit. Keith went into a room, after half an hour he came out with the Song and everybody loved it. That is the difference - Keef has much more rhythm and rhythm is rock roll. |
