I agree about the great musicianship, but I wouldn't call the Band a hippie band. When physcedelic acid-infused music was at its peak, the Band released their first album, Music from Big Pink, which flew in the face of all things phsycedelic. Stripped down earthy ballads, minus any studio effects that were popular after Sergeant Pepper. They were country, folk, blues, rock and roll, and they stayed true to those roots always.

Yeah! I love this! It's my favorite part of "The Last Waltz". Absolute killer. I really adore both- Clapton and Robertson as guitarists.Oh god, I was born too late.

The Band tells true stories of history and the common man in their intelligent lyrics. Manuel was a great musician.

Looks like an Epi Riviera (like Casino, but only semi-hollow, not fully, and has mini-humbuckers instead of P-90s). But yeah I've never seen it live either. Stuck to Fenders for that. Still does, by the looks of it!

How this can be so good is almost a mystery too deep to contemplate. |
