Good song but the picture at 3:09 to 3:27 is very zombie like - creepy!

I love this song, have to hear it at least once a day. It's one of the great songs of the rock / folk / Americana era. I know The Band and Bob Dylan had a long and mutually influential relationship. But, once and for all what does " being a peaceful man " have to do with taking care of and feeding Crazy Chester's dog ?
