he plays a totally different type of music...its a different sound and style...thats like saying Michael Jordan was the absolute best basketball player who ever lived....i mean dont get me wrong, im a HUGE Rush fan, and Neil Pert is on his stuff, but Carter Beaufort is on his stuff too...they are both amazing percussionists

Neil Pert is verry good, but I can't really say who's better...Carter is my favorite drummer.. I stick with Fromchaosbass311's opinion ;)

Neil Pert has a much larger drum kit, and uses everything on it. But I do agree with you, Carter is my fav drummer also.

Neil Pert is much better.

I started to listening to DMB when i was 6, solely for Carter. My love of the band as a whole grew enormously. Carter is still my favorite drummer, but honestly, I don't feel he is the best. He himself has even named drummers he feels are more talented than him, I think Dennis Chambers was one. But then again, you can never really know who the best is. I mean, when you think about it, there are so many drummers that focus on their style of music. Everyone's good at their own thing.

Forget what anyone says, Carter Beauford is hands down the best drummer anyone has ever seen. If anyone else thinks different post the performance, and judge. Carter's kit is 38+ !! Noone in the "rock" generation used that much, nor needed it, or had the mental comprehension to use it.

If you think that's defensive, you should hear what Rush fans say when you tell them that Buddy Rich was a better drummer than Neal Peart. ;)
