wow, scary...and brave to live on a Prairie and a floodplain! How many times has this AFB been hit? I know there was a bad one in '91...

Parts of Wichita is in a flood plain and so many homes do not have a basement. Typically the safest choice is an inside room with no windows and solid walls, and many times that room is the bathroom. Plus, they can pile into the bathtub and pull a mattress or something like that on top to help protect from the flying debris.The ones at the AFB are in barracks, multi-story apartment style, so again, no basement to speak of. The base might have had some 'scairdy holes, I don't know.

Sirens went out because they were deprived of power...tornado hit power lines. The other sirens farther away continued to go non-stop.

That video wasn't taken on the base, as you can hear him say "The base is getting hit pretty hard." indicating that he's watching it rampage across the base from a distance.

Why did he say to put them in the bathroom? They're on an AFB, and in Kansas to boot...where was the underground shelter??
