Wichita offers many activities for young and old alike. Whether it's decorating your home with Christmas wreaths or waving to Santa as he passes by in the Christmas Parade, you are sure to find something that your whole family can enjoy.

Jesus is the reason for the season and you will find many churches with special Christmas programs honoring the birth of the Savior. We have listed here some of the special Christmas events and activities being sponsored by Wichita churches. You can also find listings for other area churches in our Church Directory.

Dec. 18 - 19, 2011: "A Miraculous Christmas"
Central Christian Church

Central’s Worshiping Artists and our Children’s Ministry have teamed up to create and produce a new musical: “A Miraculous Christmas.” Make plans now to attend one of these wonderful evenings of Christmas joy! 2900 N Rock Road, 7pm. Admission is free. Free holiday refreshments following program. Call 688-4400 for information.

Thanksgiving - December 25 - Christmas: Lights on the Lake Drive Thru
This year we will be adding several new displays and thousands of lights and we can't wait to share them with you!
Hop in your car and drive thru our dazzling displays open 6:00 - 10:00 pm Thursday - Sunday, Thanksgiving - December 9 and EVERY DAY from December 13 - Christmas.
Donations are not required. All we ask is that you give what you can to make sure children with special needs have a chance to receive life-changing therapies through Heartspring Pediatric Services.

Thanksgiving - December 28, 2012: Lights on St. Paul
Over one million lights and still growing! This fantastic lights extravaganza provides outstanding support for The Arc’s programs. Wonderful new displays will add to this year’s enjoyment while also providing new sponsorship opportunities.
Opens every evening at 5:30pm; Closes 9:00pm (Sunday – Thursday), 10:00pm (Friday-Saturday), 11:55pm (Christmas Eve) Start at the corner of Douglas and St Paul (4 blocks West of Meridian) in Wichita, KS. Drive north along St Paul and through the parking lots of The Arc of Sedgwick County and the Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC), approximately ½ mile of lights!

December 1 - 2, 2012: Festival of Trees
Kick off your holiday season with Goodwill's Festival of Trees, celebrating our 20th Anniversary! Browse through the beautiful trees and get in the holiday spirit! Take family holiday photos! Visit the Reindeer Romp Children’s Area with crafts, activities, carnival games, cookie decorating, face painting and more. Meet our Christmas Elf and of course take pictures with Santa! There will be live entertainment and holiday demonstrations all weekend. Purchase and decorate an ornament for our military tree. Bid on one of the table top trees or wreaths or purchase a ticket to win a full size tree for your home!

December 9, 2012: Mannheim Steamroller

December 11, 2012: Wichita Symphony Family Holiday Concert
If you're dreaming of a Musical Christmas, don't miss the Wichita Symphony's annual Family Holiday Concert, The Spirit of the Season! It's a perfect way to get in a cheerful, holiday mood, and it's FREE! Celebrate the sounds of the holiday season with your favorite Christmas carols and holiday hits performed by your Wichita Symphony, led by guest conductor Mark Laycock. Also joining the Orchestra will be vocalist Randolph Lacy and the Butler Community College Concert Choir.

December 15 - 16, 2012: "The Nutcracker" presented by Ballet Wichita

December 18 - 22, 2011: Amazing Christmas! - Cabaret Oldtown
Holiday themed musical comedy revue...one guest called it "Saturday Night Live with Christmas music!" Starring Wichita's most popular performers and featuring a live band on stage! Delicious buffet dinner catered by Corporate Caterers. Call 316-265-4400 for details.

December 18, 2011: "A Christmas Carol"
Wichita Children's Theatre & Dance Center presents this Charles Dickens classic at Wichita Center for the Arts, 9112 E. Central. For ages 10 and up. Call 262-2282.

Through December 18, 2011: "White Christmas"
The Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre presents this holiday musical with live orchestra and professional cast. Thursday - Sunday matinees on Dec. 1, 8, and 15. Bufffet dinner. Call 612-7696 for tickets and times.

Nov. 25 - Dec. 31, 2011: Illuminations
5:30 to 8:30 p.m. every evening Nov. 25 through Dec. 31, except Dec. 24 and 25. Botanica's Illuminations, a Holiday Light Extravaganza, will be better than ever this year. Featuring 700,000 lights in addition to the 5,000 luminaries and lit themed area, Illuminations is sure to be the best light show in town. Santa will be at Botanica every evening until Christmas, unless he has an emergency at the North pole. Music groups will perform inside and out with hot drinks and snacks available in the cozy Terrace Room. Tickets are available at the door, at QT locations in Wichita.
