What Wedding MC Duties Will You Be Expected To Perform?
You've been asked to be the Master of Ceremonies or MC at an approaching marriage and you accepted before you even knew what the role entailed and what Wedding MC duties actually are. Manifestly, your role will change dependent on the size of the reception and what the bride and groom desire. Historically, the MC has specific roles that she or he is to perform during the reception. It's a brilliant idea to be well prepared for the important day because you can expect to be a bit twitchy when the day arrives.
First, after the guests have arrived and are chattering around the room, take to the stage and mic and welcome all the guests to the reception and introduce yourself as the MC. Next, introduce the bride and the groom to the guests, at which time they usually get on up and everybody claps. At a formal wedding, the bridal party is typically at the head of the table, and you will need to introduce them by name.
Next, you can give the small print of the day or evening’s events such as introducing the band or DJ. You must try to create an environment of party and one of new beginnings, which is not always an easy task, therefore, try to remain calm during your talking and do not not ramble, which many people do when they're nervous.
Thirdly, if you have been asked by the bride and groom to give a talk you would do so at this time. Don't forget to keep your speech to a mid-length, you don't want to have an one-minute speech as that is rather too short, but you don't want to have an hour-long speech as that would bore everyone to tears.
After your speech, you'll then cut the marriage cake. This is going to be an ad-hoc even or it may be awfully formal depending on the bride and groom. Once the cake has been cut, then it is time for the throwing of the bouquet and garter so you'll need to have everybody get into place for this very fun event. Once the laughter and excitement has quieted from the bouquet throwing, then dancing will happen and immediately after that, the bride and groom will be leaving, which you may announce.
Keep under consideration that at some marriage receptions there is catered food and heaps of drinking, so your role could be a bit different dependent on the bride, groom, and their guests. You could have a really casual role as the MC and then again it may be very formal. Of course, you will know all of this well in advance of the reception, but the point is, that the conventional role of the MC varies from wedding to wedding.
