Marriage is Not Important, Commitment Is

Tying the knot used to be an important part of peoples lives, the day was always celebrated and much loved.

But as days pass and things advance people change there thoughts about certain aspects of life. I have noticed that a lot of people lately just do not take marriage as seriously as they used to. More and more people in the world just want to be independent on their own and do not want to have such a huge commitment such as marriage.

Surveys have indicated that marriage is the largest commitment you can make in life, this sits above having kids and getting a mortgage. So why are people these days strictly against getting married? Lets take a quick look at a few options

1) They cannot afford it, weddings these days are just so expensive for a nice wedding you are probably looking at shelling out around 20k.
2) With the volume of divorces on the increase people just do not want to get married for a few years.
3) They believe that it is only a piece of paper and does not mean much.
4) Getting married used to be about religion and believing in aspects such as sex before marriage. This is not really the case anymore as not many people are religious in this day and age.

Whatever you think about marriage I still feel that it should definitely be more thought about over the long term. By getting married shows the whole planet how much respect you have for your friendship, it shows that you want to share and love sharing things with them such as businesses, houses and cars.
